FIRE
RETARDANT LAMINATE
 |
The fire retardant
decorative laminates, which are produced
according to EN 438, are used on
horizontal and vertical surfaces, which
are sensitive to burning or sensitive to
fumes which are emitted during the fire.
The thickness of the laminates, which
are used by adhering it to an carrier,
is between 0,6 mm and 1,2 mm. It is
produced as one of its surface sanded.
On the other hand, the fire retardant
laminates, which are used as carriers
themselves, are used with the thickness
between 2mm and 25mm. These type of
laminates are designed to be used in the
interior locations, where there could be
crowd of people.
These type of
laminates are used in the interior
locations as surface covering or as
carrier board in the partitions, the
wall coverings, the cupboards and the
tables. They are used in locations like;
airports, hotels, |
office buildings, hospitals
and school, where mainly crowd of people are
present. If the fire retardant
laminates are to be used by adhering it to an
carrier, the carrier ( mdf, chip board) and the
adhesive should have fire retardant
characteristics.
These type of laminates,
which are designed for the interior locations,
should be kept away from direct sun light or
away from humid environments.
The fire retardant laminates
are classified as M1 and B1 according to the
hazardous fumes it emits during the burning and
according to the burning speed. The test reports
and the certificates in relation to the ASD fire
retardant laminates can be found at the Quality
link.
